Instructors start 2nd Sem with Faculty Development Seminar

Naga City - Faculty Members of Mariners' Polytechnic Colleges (MPC) this city, attended a one-day Faculty Development Seminar held on November 10, 2015 at the Jaime's Hall, 4th Floor, Mariners' Training and Hotel Institute (MTHI).

The main topic taken-up at the event was 'Effective Team Teaching and Collaboration Practices' which was ably delivered by Dr. Nimpa U. Alipante, Former Dean of Women/Professor Graduate School at the University of Nueva Caceres in Naga City.

The 'Rationale and Objectives' of the gathering was given by OIC VPAA Dr. Mariel Estrella. Meanwhile, a 'Discussion on Using Video and Other Media in the Classroom Effectively' was facilitated by I.T. Expert Mr. Ian Jake Olaso. The 'Update on Benefits' (Medical and Insurance) was explained by HR Director Col. Ricardo Brizo. A 'Workshop/Activity' per topic was facilitated by faculty members Ms. Mary Ann Gantong and Mr. Leonilo Ponteros. The closing remarks was made by Assistant Dean of Academics Ms. Gloria Tapan.


QMR Officer Ms. Hazel Palacio acts as emcee for the seminar-workshop with the Speakers seated at the head table at the start of the event.

"The members of the faculty have to continuously undergo updating on the latest trends in education. This way, we are assured of the quality education which our students deserve" said MPC-Naga President and CEO Dr. Marilissa J. Ampuan.

The seminar conducted is a tradition at the Mariners schools intended to update and prepare the members of the faculty for the opening of a new semester.
